Microscan has a policy of retailing office equipment products from manufacturers who are taking the highest possible measures to ensure that conservation issues are one of the top priorities when developing new products.

We specialize in offering a consultancy service to maximise document workflow productivity. Introducing state of the art hardware and software applications to ethically reduce printing costs and their impact on the environment.

We ensure that all end of life equipment is remanufactured and sold as remanufactured equipment to Schools, Colleges and Charities at a discounted cost in the first instance. This equipment is guaranteed to be maintained by Microscan to the highest possible standards for a further 3 years. Equipment that cannot be reused is disposed of using specialist companies at Microscans cost.

Consumables sold by Microscan can be collected at the end of their product cycle and again the usable components are reused and the toner disposed of by specialist companies. Microscans policy is always to offer both new and recycled equipment and supplies.


Objectives and targets

Microscans objective is to supply products from manufacturers who have a proven documented record of ensuring that environmental concerns are at the foremost of their agendas in terms of energy conservation and pollution.

Microscan are targeted to reuse 90% of office equipment products that are returned to us. We have changed our company vehicles to new cleaner generation diesel engines and will be renewing our fleet over the next 24 months with electric/hybrid fuel technology.

Microscan ensure that 75% of packaging received is reused and 100% of used printed paper is reused for packaging. Electronic filing software is used in house to reduce the amount of paper that is actually used in printing.

Our next step is to become “Carbon Neutral” by December 2008.
